LEARNING ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Please see the "Clubs and Activities" page for more information regarding the Learning Assistance Programs at SVHS in the Full Day school and in the Transition School. If you have any question about LAP (i.e. how students are qualified, how growth is measured) please contact me by phone at 340-7136 or by email: [email protected]

STATE ASSESSMENTS

State assessment requirements were changed this school year. Students in the graduating classes of 2016 and beyond are not required to take the biology assessment. Students in the classes of 2017, 2018, 2019 are required to take and pass the biology assessments. The High School Proficiency Exam (HSPE) is being phased out and replaced by the Smarter Balanced English Language Assessment and the End of Course (EOC) math assessment is being replaced by the Smart Balanced math. November retake scores will be available the end of January. Contact the OSPI website for additional testing information or you may contact me and I will guide you through the testing requirements.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS

This year we are fortunate to have 3 people assisting in the English Language Department. Laryssa is helping out in the full day program, Yasha is working in the contract program, and Nina is helping out in the counseling department. Yasha and Nina are native Russia giving them the advantage of connecting with our Russian speaking students and parents. They are a real benefit translating at conferences, IEP meetings, and verbal/written communication to parents.
