SPOKANE VALLEY HIGH

PROJECTS-BASED CURRICULUM

This program is designed for students seeking:

  • small class sizes for a more personalized learning environment.
  • customized curriculum that will engage their thinking, problem solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • an enterprising education that includes a greenhouse, landscape design program, and graphic arts class
  • a course with integrated subjects applied together in a real world context

School starts at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 2:15 p/m.
There is no school on Fridays
Friday Study Support labs are open from 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. (by prior arrangement)

REACH is often equated with "advisory".  However, it's really much more like a small family within the school designed as a support system for students and parents.  REACH classes explore graduation progress, life issues, team building, and much more.  Throughout the year, REACH classes participate in fun competitions within the school for the coveted traveling trophy.  REACH classes are individualized to the interests of the teacher and the students.
Afternoon Classes are subject-integrated learning communities, our Project Classes.  This means that a team teachers and about thirty students explore an essential question through an in-depth project.  These projects emphasize the use of 21st century skills, along with the application of student's learning in multiple subject areas.  Projects are designed to relate to real situations and often require students to present quality products to authentic audiences.
